She’s back and I’m happy!
Regardless, Lisa’s back and I’m excited. I was ‘that guy’ in the airport last night, you know, the guy with the flowers waiting for someone to get off the plane? Yep, that was me…and it was pretty fun too. She loved the flowers that I got for her; she thought they were very pretty. I was surprised that they even lived – they had been without water for going on 6 hours by the time she got them – but there they were, still red and pretty.
Last night while waiting for the evening to come I decided to cook some random meal from scratch. I pan-fried some Pork and then made some potatoes. It turned out OK, it could have been a lot better had I baked the Pork – that and the fact that by pan searing the Pork it filled the living room/kitchen with smoke. I’ll probably try baking next time. At least it gave me something to eat today! Well – I will try to post some pictures of some of the things that Lisa brought back from China for me soon!
Until then…再见 (zàijiàn)

Excitement!
I picked up an interesting movie yesterday called ‘Kataude mashin gâru’ (The Machine Girl). No, this is not a weird, sleazy porn – come on guys, get your heads out of the gutter – but instead a very tacky, campy, gore-fest from Japan. See, I was watching popSiren (a show on the Revision3 internet TV network) and ‘Kataude mashin gâru’ was their movie pick of the week. Once I saw the trailer I knew I had to own it and, lucky for me, my local Best Buy had it in stock.
In other news, I recently paid $9.95 and updated the firmware on my iPod Touch to version 2.0. With this update I got the mail, notes, stocks, weather, and maps applications as well as the app store to download and install additional content. This was well worth my $9.95 because I got this remote application that makes my iPod Touch a remote for my iTunes library and that alone was with the update for me. I know, I know, I’m very easily amused.
Microsoft announced a new dashboard for the 360 last week at E3. It uses an avatar system that looks pretty neat. Not only did are they changing the look and feel of the dashboard, but they are also adding support for Netflix. Now that might actually give me reason to pay for Netflix – we will have to see how well it works this fall when the update goes live.
I got my own copy of Wii fit this week. I happened to be at work and on break when the truck brought 12 Wii Fits with it to my Best Buy store. The 12 were gone in a matter of minutes but not before I was able to purchase one for myself! Now I have a balance board for the newest, coolest, most cutting edge games. In regards to the Wii Fit game, we will have to see if I lose any weight. I will try to chronicle my adventures on this blog when I decide to actually start.

New Widget
Basically, it is your job to vote on what my next blog will be about. Give me ideas, lets make this fun. Just click the question within the widget and start suggesting! I’m interested to see what happens with this – even though I know probably nothing will come of it.

Damaging Winds
I stood on the 2nd balcony of a 3 story tall office building. Not a very tall building by any means but it gave me enough of a view to watch at the storm swirled its way towards my place of work. The wind picked up steadily as the dark clouds got closer and closer. At one point, I decided that it wasn’t going to be very much fun if I stayed where I was and I sought shelter. On my way down to the basement of the facility, I looked outside to see just how bad it had really gotten. In a matter of minutes, trees where being bent over, their tops almost hitting the ground, as the rain came in sheet from the sky. The wind was so bad that it was actually blowing the wind vertically….which pushed the water through the cracks in the doors. I went to the basement to wait out the rest of the storm.
Roughly 4 minutes later everything had passed us. It was nice and sunny, but those are not good words to describe what those 4 minutes of wind and rain did to the city of Omaha. Branches were everywhere, leaves were everywhere, mulch was everywhere, as well as dirt. Streets were flooded, buildings were damaged, cars as well. I guess downtown Omaha got hit horribly. There was an Art Festival taking place in its streets today. Live music, expensive art was on display. I hope no one down there got hurt, but I’m sure that much of the artwork was damaged, which is a huge shame. I really hope that the damage wasn’t too bad; I haven’t had time to look up anything yet. I will do that when Im done with this blog.
I left work around 5:05PM and headed down to my other job, Best Buy. Apparently, the storm had picked up momentum as it progressed through the city. Therefore, the more east the storm went…the worse it got. My Best Buy store was torn apart. When I got there the power was out and the Operations department was flooded. What that means to non-retail people is that all of the registers where wet. 40 containers lay in the area; picking up all of water that was spewing from the roof…it seriously looked just like a waterfall. Needless to say, we remained closed for the rest of the day. The power never did come back on…and when I left we where no closer to opening our doors then when I arrived. I hope we get everything up and running by tomorrow…I really don’t want to lose all those hours.
Today was quite the adventure, let me tell you. I have never seen a storm do so much damage in such a little amount of time.

Zombie Post
Well, maybe it’s not hello world. The world a lot bigger than my readership in MySpace, but it sounded epic…and isn’t epic a good way to start a new entry into a super-old blog?
Some of you may be wondering “Why in the world is he updating his blog now?” so I actually came up with a legitimate answer as to why. Basically, it is to tell people about a website called Twitter. I encourage everyone that reads this to at least follow the link and check it out…it’s like the status menu on MySpace and Facebook on crack. It’s super easy and pretty fun. I’ve been messing around with it for a little while but there is only so much you can do when you’re the only person you know on the site. So go sign up and ‘follow’ me. If you do this one task, then I will reward you by following you and then we can see why this site is such a big deal.
Is anyone else excited about the shear amount of awesome-sounding video games that are coming out this year and next? First of we have Spore, which a lot of people have been waiting years to come out. I encourage you to check out the Creature Creator, as they are offering a free demo of it right now. I haven’t had the opportunity to mess around with it myself yet but I will soon. Next, we have the Star Wars: Force Unleashed game that looks amazing. We have Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, There are also a lot more games coming that I can’t name because then this would be a novel.
Videogames are not the only thing that I am excited about. At the end of August I am moving! I am moving in with a good friend that lives a little more mid-town, which is a benefit as I will have friends living both in downtown Omaha and way West Omaha by that time and the middle point is always a good place to be. Plus, Lisa won’t have to drive as far from school and everything will be happy! At the time of move, I will be investing in a new TV, Shelving, and a PS3 (if money pertains). I will have everything I could ever want in my room, which is nice for not only me, but Lisa also. I get more and more excited the more I think about it.
Right now the only other thing that is on my mind is that I can’t wait till the end of July…July 29th to be specific. That is the date in which Lisa returns from her trip. She has been away for a little over 6 weeks so far already. I’m excited for her return, I miss her a lot.
Well, that’s pretty much everything I have to talk about at this time. If you take nothing else away from this entry, I want to you at least take away the knowledge that No, I’m not dead.

March: What a Wonderful Month!
Laura and I upgraded our cable yesterday; the digital DVR box should show up on our door step today! I’m excited actually. I will have all of my Discovery Channels back (like Military and Health) and my Sci-Fi (just in time for Battlestar Galactica, yes…I am a geek). Also, we will be able to watch network shows in High Definition and apparently Cox’s HDTV selection is continuing to grow so that should be exciting (crosses fingers hoping that Sci-Fi goes HD soon). The cable goes live on Wednesday, the only thing I am disappointed about is that I have to work Wednesday night (more on that later) so I won’t be able to enjoy the new cable until probably 10PM…but enjoy it I will! Hopefully, I will have company to enjoy it with :)
Back to the topic is work…so I get to work on Sunday and open up the schedule and realize that they have me scheduled for 3 hours on Wednesday night (6-CL). I stared at the paper in disbelief and then realized that it is also like that next Wednesday. I went up to my supervisor and asked “What is this Wednesday stuff all about?” he asked me if it was okay with it and I said “I would have been, but Lisa’s class schedule changed and we usually do something on Wednesday nights now so this was just a little unexpected” He ensured me that it is only temporary and he thanked me for telling him. I really appreciated that, because he could have been mean about it, but instead is understood and is going to help. He really cares about me as a person and that is something that is hard to find in a manager these days. I really should have updated my Availability when Lisa’s class schedule changed but I didn’t because I thought “Why would they schedule me for 3 hours?” I can now see why ;) The good news is that I found someone looking for hours next week and I gave them my Wednesday shift…suckers, lol. Actually, it works out better for them as well, so all is good in the world that is Best Buy…I still have my job there, I get to see Lisa, and the other employee gets to work with her boyfriend that has to be at work that Wednesday anyways.
Wow, I can’t believe that it is already March ’08. My birthday is in 22 days (not counting today). I’ll be super old too, like 23. I might as well start looking for a retirement home now, anyone have any recommendations?
March is such an awesome month; its theme color (Green) is my favorite color. I think the only month that comes close to March for coolness is September. I mean, Ron Howard (1st), Catherine O’Hara (4th), Michael Powley (9th), William H, Macy (13th), Michael Caine (14th), Rob Lowe (17th), Luc Besson (18th), Glenn Close (19th), Bruce Willis (19th), Spike Lee (20th), Gary Oldman (21st), Matthew Broderick (21st), William Shatner (22nd), Alan Arkin (26th), James Caan (26th), Anthony Mehner (27th), Quinten Tatantino (27th), Vince Vaughn (28th), Ewan McGregor (31st), and Christopher Walken (31st) all share a March Birthday so it has to be a pretty freaking sweet month, right? Yes.
Until next time everyone…be safe and all that good stuff ;)
